What Is a Bilingual Elementary Education Degree?
A Bilingual Elementary Education degree from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» is the first step in becoming a certified teacher in bilingual preschool through sixth grade classrooms. Elementary Education majors can choose from three pathways: ESL, bilingual, or special education. Students in the Bilingual Elementary Education pathway will be prepared to teach all preschool and elementary students in Spanish and English in all core subjects (math, science, social studies, and ELAR/SLAR).

What is the process for becoming a teacher in Texas?
- Apply to the School of Education at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»
- Obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in education from an accredited university such as Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Dallas
- Pass certification exams for your certification pathway (EC-6, Bilingual, ESL, Special Education, etc.)
- Submit a state application for certification with the Texas Education Agency
- Complete fingerprinting
