Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ provides all students with a campus environment that is conducive to academic endeavors and social and individual growth. To that end, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ has adopted policies to govern student behavior that are educational in nature and designed to help students understand expectations and accept responsibility for their own actions. Freedom of Speech and Public Assembly

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ (Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­) recognizes that the freedom to exchange ideas and to publicly assemble is an essential component of the educational process. Such activities promote debate and the sharing of ideas that substantially contribute to the marketplace of ideas and are a fundamental principle of educational institutions.

The responsibility of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ to operate and maintain an effective and efficient institution of higher education requires regulation of the time, place, and manner of assembly, speech, and other expressive activity on campus grounds. In keeping with this responsibility, University students, faculty and staff, and visitors are free to engage in expressive activity at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ in a constitutionally protected manner subject to the content-neutral regulations necessary to fulfill the mission and obligations of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­, preserve the rights of others, coordinate multiple uses of limited space, and assure preservation of campus facilities and grounds.

Alcohol and other Drug Information, Drug Free Schools and Communities Act

Copyright and Illegal Peer-to-Peer File Sharing
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ takes copyright law very seriously and as such has developed policies prohibiting unauthorized duplication and distribution of copyrighted materials, including copyrighted music. Sanctions for violations of these policies include:

  • loss of computing privileges
  • fines
  • dismissal from the University
  • criminal or civil action

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ also employs a number of technical and procedural measures to prevent illegal downloading and distribution of copyrighted materials. Legal alternatives to copyright infringing downloading can be found on the .

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy, Campus Crime Statistics, Safety Programs, and Services
Information regarding public safety at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ is provided in the Annual Security Report.  The Security Report includes crime statistics for the previous three years concerning certain crimes reported to have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The Security Report also includes information about:

  • police and public safety resources
  • reporting crimes
  • coordination between law enforcement agencies
  • fire and medical emergencies
  • crime prevention
  • victim support services
  • the law and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ policies
  • campus facilities
  • residence hall security
  • timely warning policy statement
  • the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Policy on Sexual Harassment
  • the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Alcohol and Other Drug Policy

Privacy of Student Records (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that gives students the right to:

·         review their records

·         to request amendments to their records

·         to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information

·         and to file complaints with the U.S. Department of Education
