Front Security Desk Student Assistant

The Desk Assistant (DA) is a part-time student paraprofessional who works at the residence hall front desk.  The DA is responsible for assisting the Residence Hall Coordinator, Resident Assistant, and Residence Life Staff in effective administration of the residence hall.  The DA performs a variety of clerical functions and provides excellent customer service.   


Resident Assistant

Resident Assistants (RAs) are peer leaders who serve as student members of teams in residence Life. The RA position has been designed to support the University Strategic Plan and the mission of Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­. RAs contribute to the development of a community of scholars by assisting in the academic and personal development of residents and by promoting and supporting an inclusive environment in which differences are thoughtfully explored. Additionally, RAs are expected to know and uphold University policies, procedures, and community standards, work collaboratively to build community, be available to mentor students, and encourage responsible citizenship on and off the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ campus. Resident Assistants are required to live on campus during the academic year.

Summer Community Assistant

The Summer Community Assistant (SCA) works at the residence hall community desk, assisting in the administration of the hall and providing service to summer camps, conference guests, and summer residents. The SCA is an integral staff member of the Office of Residence Life and serves as an initial representative of the residence hall, the department, and Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­. The SCA is in direct contact with persons outside the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ community, as well as students, and should maintain a professional appearance and a positive attitude at all times. SCAs work at the front desk, participate in "on call" emergency response, and prepare rooms for conferences.  Summer Community Assistants are required to live on campus during the Summer.
